Research Experience:
Summer Research Opportunities Program Scholar, State College, Pa., June 2014 – August 2014
- The purpose of the study was to determine how the college student is depicted in viewbooks and whether African-American women can identify with this college student in a way that empowers them to believe they can find a sense of social belonging at a majority white institution. A content analysis of eight public, flagship university viewbooks was conducted. Results revealed compelling implications for public relations, marketing and communication strategies geared toward recruitment of African Americans.
