As the director of ImPRint Communications and the recipient of the 2014 PRSA Multicultural Scholarship ($1,500), JoLena was asked to participate in creating content for PRSSA Diversity month (August 2015). The theme was Shift: Diversity in Action, and JoLena wrote about how she saw diversity in action and how it has transformed her life
Community Report Articles – Capital Area United Way
As the major gifts intern, JoLena was given the opportunity to write four articles for the Capital Area United Way 2013-2014 Community Report. JoLena’s articles were published on pages 31 and 34 of the community report.
News Release – BBR Creative
As the BBR Creative public relations intern, JoLena had the opportunity to write a news release and pitch to the media that Lafayette Parish had been chosen for an offshore oil and gas industry study. The news release received multiple coverage by The Daily Advertiser via website and social media. KATC also covered the story. This news release demonstrates JoLena’s ability to write clearly and concisely in AP style and to properly utilize the inverted pyramid technique to prioritize and structure information in a news release.
News Release – Acting Up In Acadiana
As the BBR Creative public relations intern, JoLena also had the opportunity to write a news release and pitch to the media on behalf of Acting Up In Acadiana about the organization’s Summer Youth Shakespeare Ensemble’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The news release received multiple coverage from The Daily Advertiser in its print newspapers, on its website and on its social media platforms. The play was also featured on a number of local community calendars.

Newsletter – Capital Area United Way
As the major gifts intern, one of JoLena’s many projects was to create CAUW’s first semi-annual Tocqueville Society newsletter. JoLena’s supervisor placed her in charge of coming up with the design and content for the newsletter. The newsletter was sent out to all Tocqueville donors.
